Alex Hey was named assistant athletic director for sport performance at the University of Evansville in June 2021 overseeing day-to-day supervision of the sport performance department, while working directly with Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Men’s Soccer and Sprinters and Jumpers.

Hey comes to Evansville by way of Saint Francis University where he was an assistant strength and conditioning coach working with men’s and women’s volleyball, men's and women's soccer, women's basketball and football. 

Hey has previously been at Marshall University as an assistant in the Olympic department working directly with volleyball, men’s soccer, tennis and cheer. Also assisting with men’s and women’s basketball as well as women’s soccer. Before that he was at Morehead State where he served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2016-2017 before transitioning to assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2018-2019. During his time at Morehead, Hey had the opportunity to work directly with football, men’s basketball, volleyball, women’s soccer, track and field, men’s and women’s golf, coed and all-girl cheer and cross country.

A native of Bryan, Ohio, Hey received a bachelor of arts in exercise science from Morehead State in 2016. He was a four-year letter winner for the Morehead football team. Hey also received a master of arts in wellness promotion from Morehead State in 2017. He holds the CSCS certification through the NSCA.
