"I I am incredibly excited to become a part of the Alma college family. I would like to thank athletic director Sarah Dehring, and the rest of the search committee, for giving me the opportunity to come in and lead the men's soccer program. Soccer is a sport that I am incredibly passionate about, and I am looking forward to working with the players and support staff.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Coach Keller and players at Wabash College, to whom I wish all the best for the season. Also, the players, coaches, parents and Board of Directors at Boilers FC, which have been a massive part of my life for the past six years. I will always have fond memories of working for the club."

Newby had spent the last 3 seasons at Wabash College as an Assistant Coach.  He worked with goalkeepers, recruited, and handled a large part of the operations and travel for the program. At the same time, he also worked at the club level with Boilers FC. There, he has served as the Director of Coaching since 2016. He was responsible for scheduling team training, games, and camps. He also worked with individual teams and goalkeepers. To add to his coaching credentials, he served as the Assistant Goalkeeping Director for the Indiana Soccer Olympic Development Programme.

Originally from England, Newby spent 4 years working with Accrington Stanley, a professional side. They currently play in League One, the third tier of the English football system. During his time with the club, he spent time as an administrator and a coach. He primarily worked with the academy players, and was also in charge of recruiting 15-17 year old players into the academy team.

Newby holds a USSF B Coaching License, a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Diploma Level 2, an FA Level 2 Qualification in Coaching Football, and an FA Level 2 Goalkeeping Qualification.
