Brian Bouhl joined the Hoyas in 2018 as the volunteer assistant coach and he helped lead the Hoyas to the NCAA Championship in 2019.  He was promoted to assistant coach prior to the 2023 campaign.

Last season, the Hoyas won the BIG EAST Regular Season Championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The coaching staff earned BIG EAST Staff of the Year honors, and Georgetown had one All-American as well as three players signing professional contracts.

In 2021, Georgetown advanced to the national semifinal for the third time in program history along with winning the BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament Championships. Individually, Dante Polvara was named the MAC Hermann Trophy winner and the Blue & Gray boasted three All-Americans.

In 2019, the Hoyas had a historic run winning the national championship with a 3-3 victory over Virginia that was decided in penalty kicks, 7-6.  GU finished the year with a mark of 20-1-3 which set the program record for wins in a season.  Georgetown also boasted the program's first three-peat, winning the BIG EAST Championship for the third-consecutive year in a 3-1 victory over Providence College at Shaw Field.  It was just the second time in program history that the squad has won both the regular season and the championship in the same year.

Individually, the Hoyas had three All-Americans for the first time in program history as well as nine players named All-East Region.  Additionally, senior Dylan Nealis was the second MAC Hermann Trophy finalist in program history. The coach staff was also named the Division I National Coaching Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches.

In his time at Georgetown, the team has won three BIG EAST Championships and had five NCAA Tournament berths including the title in 2019. He has coached 10 All-Americans, 11 BIG EAST major award winners, 37 All-BIG EAST selections and 16 MLS draft picks or European signees. Additionally, the coaching staff has earned league, region and national coach of the year honors.

Prior to working at Coastal Carolina, Bouhl spent three seasons at the University of Kentucky where he was the director of operations for men’s soccer.  There he worked with all aspects of the program focusing on team operations including training, sport science, travel and camps. During that time, the Wildcats made NCAA tournament appearances in 2015 and 2016, including a program-first No. 16 seed in 2016.

While in Lexington, Bouhl was a staff coach with Lexington FC for five years, coaching the 1999 and 2001 boys age groups, as well as coaching goalkeepers for the club.

He began his coaching career at Centre College in 2014 as an assistant coach.  At Centre, Bouhl coached the goalkeepers while also managing the squad’s daily schedule from training to equipment and social media.

Bouhl also spent time coaching in the PDL with Myrtle Beach Mutiny and Derby City Rovers.

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kentucky. He holds his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) E License as well as the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Diploma 1.

Bouhl resides in the Glover Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
