Cathy Liggett was appointed to the role of Deputy Director of Athletics in August of 2021. She had previously served as the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations, starting in November of 2017, as well as serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities, Operations and Sports Medicine prior to that.

Liggett came to Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1990 after graduating from Keene State College in 1988.  She served as the assistant athletic trainer for nine years before moving into the position of head athletic trainer on August 19, 1998. In addition, Liggett served as Interim Director of Athletics from June 2018 to February 2019 before Brad Hurlbut's appointment as full-time director.

Working specifically with the men’s soccer, men’s basketball and softball teams, Liggett’s commitment to the well-being of Fairleigh Dickinson University’s student-athletes is unsurpassed.  In the fall of 1999, Liggett expanded the training room to include an in-house rehabilitation station for increased attention in each student-athlete’s rehabilitation from their injuries.  She also played an integral role in the planning and design of the fitness center, as well as the selection of weight room and cardio room equipment. In the spring of 2001, Liggett was selected as Fairleigh Dickinson’s first-ever recipient of the H. Rogers Muse Service Award for outstanding contributions to the Athletics Department.

In the fall of 2005, she received the prestigious Pillar of FDU Award, given to individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the character and quality of the University, its community and culture. In the fall of 2006, Liggett was inducted into the Fairleigh Dickinson University Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Madison, N.J. native is a member of several professional organizations including the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), the Collegiate Athletic Trainers Association (CATA) and the Athletic Trainers Society of New Jersey (ATSNJ). Liggett is a key figure on the Metropolitan Campus as a member of the Fairleigh Dickinson University Wellness Committee and serves as the Coordinator of Physical Education through University College. She was a member of the NEC athletic trainers committee and served as chairperson.

Liggett holds a B.S in Sports Medicine and currently resides in Madison, NJ.
