Chris Black, a former Division I goalkeeper at Cleveland State University, enters his 10th season on the Spartan coaching staff in 2022.In his first season with the club, Black worked primarily with the goalkeepers as the Spartans posted a combined 10 wins and ties – six more than the previous season – with three victories versus regionally ranked teams and a winning record on the road.  The 2015 squad went 13-4-1, ending the year ranked 11th among Division III teams in goals-against average (0.59), 14th in save percentage (0.866) and 21st in shutout percentage (0.56). Black was on the coaching staff for two of the team's four NCAA Tournament appearances (2018, 2022).A native of nearby Chesterland, Ohio, Black was named his conference’s co-MVP at West Geauga High School with a 17-2 record as a senior.He also works as a mechanical engineer in greater Cleveland.
