Daniel Cherbonnier recently wrapped up his 1st season as Associate Head Coach for UT Tyler in his second stint with the men's soccer program in 2022-2023.

Cherbonnier returns to work under head coach Kenny Jones after previously serving as an assistant coach for UT Tyler from the 2007-2012 seasons. Cherbonnier and the Patriots took home three ASC Championships during his years with the program, and will look to replicate that success in the Lone Star Conference.

Cherbonnier comes to UT Tyler after serving as an assistant coach for three different Division I programs over the last 10 years. Most recently, he spent a year with California Baptist where he helped the Lancers to a fifth place finish in the WAC, which included an incredible seven road wins, which tied them for the most in all of Division I.

Previous to his stint with California Baptist, Cherbonnier helped guide Grand Canyon to a WAC regular season championship in the spring of 2021. That single season followed eight total years at Tulsa, where helped the Golden Hurricanes to three AAC conference championships and over 100 all-conference and all-academic awards.

In addition to his work as a collegiate coach, Cherbonnier has also spent time working with various youth programs, club teams, and high schools. Among those are Tulsa Soccer Club, Azzurri FC, Bishop T.K. Gorman, All-Saints, and the Tyler Soccer Association. He has also collected various coaching licenses and diplomas, including the United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma and the Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma, a USSF "C" License, a Coerver Coaching Level 1 Certificate, and has completed the La Liga Methodology Level 1 Course.

Cherbonnier hails from College Station, Texas and his wife Angela works for Tyler Independent School District. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Kinesiology from UT Tyler, and later went on to earn his Master of Science in Education from Tulsa.
