The 2023 season will be Dave Blomquist's 15th season as the head men's soccer coach at Azusa Pacific. Through 14 years, Blomquist has posted an 157-66-19 record (.649), placing him at No. 2 on the program's all-time winning list. He is just under 25 wins short of the top spot.

Blomquist led the Cougars to back-to-back PacWest championships in 2018 and 2019, and the Cougars won a third PacWest title in 2021.  He was awarded the PacWest Coach of the Year in all three of those years, while also being recognized alongside his assistant coach Andriy Budnyy as the DII West Region Staff of the Year in 2019. Blomquist led his team to an incredible 22-0-0 in conference play over the course of 2018 & 2019, which is the best two-year conference stretch in Cougar history.

In 2019, Blomquist and the Cougars finished the regular season with an impressive 18-0-0 record en route to winning Blomquist's fourth PacWest championship and holding onto the DII No. 1 ranking for six consecutive weeks to end the regular season. The Cougar's perfect regular season is the first time in PacWest history that a team has finished with an unblemished record. Blomquist was awarded his third career PacWest Coach of the Year honor, as Azusa Pacific had three players receive DII All-American honors, five players receive DII All-West Region honors and 12 players receive All-PacWest honors. The Cougars finished the season as the No. 11 ranked team in the country.

In 2018, Blomquist and the Cougars finished the regular season 16-1-1, winning 13 games in a row including an 11-0-0 record in conference play to secure Blomquist's third PacWest championship and second conference Coach of the Year award. The Cougars hosted the West Regional where Blomquist won his first ever NCAA DII postseason game defeating top-25 ranked Cal State LA in overtime 2-1 in the second round of the West Regional. Azusa Pacific had three players receive NCAA DII All-American honors, five players receive NCAA DII All-West Region honors and nine players receive All-PacWest honors as they finished the season as the No. 12 ranked team in the country.

Blomquist coached standout defender Isaac Bawa, who was an All-American in both 2018 and 2019 and is currently under contract with the LA Galaxy II of the United Soccer League.

In Azusa Pacific's first season as NCAA Division II members in 2014, he led the team to a 14-3 overall record while winning the PacWest regular season outright with an 11-1 mark in league games. The Cougars earned a host spot and the No. 2 seed for the NCAA West Region postseason championships. They concluded the year ranked 19th in the nation with seven players earning all-conference honors. For his outstanding efforts from the bench, Blomquist was named the league's Coach of the Year.

Blomquist guided the 2013 Cougars to a tie for first place in the Pacific West Conference standings with a 10-2 mark in league play, the fourth season in the past five years his team has finished in the top-two of the conference standings. In 2012, the team's first year in the Pacific West Conference, Azusa Pacific went 10-4, and boasted a perfect 7-0 record at home in PacWest play.

An accomplished player at Wheaton from 1992-95, Blomquist earned NCAA Division III All-American honors as a 1995 senior, then went on to play one year professionally as a teammate of Wolf's on the Chicago Stingers. Blomquist was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Year in 1995 after posting 13 goals and two assists. In his Wheaton career, Blomquist finished with 17 goals and 5 assists and was a 2-time All-CCIW first-team selection. In 2011 he was inducted into the Wheaton College Athletic Hall of Honor.

Prior to joining Azusa Pacific, Blomquist spent the previous eight years coaching in the San Diego area, most recently as the head coach at Santa Fe Christian School and the Rancho Santa Fe Attack club program.
