Saint Martin’s men's soccer Head Coach Rob Walker announced the addition of Iovani Rodriguez Perez as an assistant coach for the Spring 2023 season.

Rodriguez was a former player for the Saints from 2017 to 2019 and Gonzaga University in 2016.

During his playing career, Rodriguez had the privilege of being a part of various teams in the Pacific Northwest with Yakima United, Vancouver Victory, PDX FC, Oly Town FC, and Thurston County FC.

Transitioning into coaching, Rodriguez helped Tumwater High School achieve a 3rd place finish in the 2A WIAA State Championships in 2022. Additionally, Rodriguez helped the development of young soccer players as a coach for the Thurston County Soccer Academy.

Iovani's commitment to the sport extended beyond his coaching duties. Throughout his career, he actively engaged with the youth soccer community. He volunteered as a coach for Three Rivers Soccer Club, Christ the King Middle School, and various sports training camps. Most notably, Rodriguez co-founded a non-profit organization called Community First Soccer Organization. This organization aims to make soccer accessible for children in disadvantaged communities, reflecting Iovani's dedication to inclusivity and community service.

Born and raised in eastern Washington, Rodriguez graduated from Hanford High School in 2016. He pursued higher education at SMU, earning a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2019.
