James Greenslit enters his tenth season as Head Coach of the Roger Williams University Men’s Soccer program.

The Hawks continue to make a mark within the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), finishing in the top of the bracket (either first or second place within the conference) during the regular season over the past three years.

In 2023, the Hawks finished the regular season in 2nd place with a record of 8-4-9. They fought hard within the conference tournament, appearing in the finals of the CCC championship. The Hawks team earned significant accolades after their 2023 season, as the United Soccer Coaches named one student-athlete as an All-American, and two as All-Region student-athletes. There were also six Hawks named as All-CCC players, including three named to the 1st team one named CCC Defensive Player of the Year and another named CCC Rookie of the Year. Furthermore, nine of the student-athletes on the Fall 2023 team were named academic All-CCC players, a distinction that both Greenslit and the team place significant weight.

In 2022, the Hawks finished in 2nd place in the regular season, won the CCC conference championship and advanced to the NCAA tournament, with an impressive performance in the first round, before a penalty kick shootout halted their advancement. In 2021, the Hawks finished the regular season as co-champions of the CCC and advanced to the semi-finals of the CCC tournament. The team again received impressive honors through the United Soccer Coaches’ selections after their 2021 and 2022 seasons.

In addition to the squad’s accomplishments on the soccer field, Greenslit also emphasizes the importance of the student-athletes’ overall roles within the Roger Williams community. Whether it is meeting the team’s goal of completing 250 volunteer hours during the school year, actively contributing toward their partnership with the Team Impact non-profit organization, or encouraging players to challenge themselves in the classroom, Greenslit personally values the opportunities Division 3 athletics offer student-athletes. He prioritizes recruiting contributors on the soccer field who also value teamwork and developing into valuable members of their communities off of the field.

Greenslit graduated from Wheaton (Mass.) in 2006 with a degree in economics. He is the only three-time All-American in Wheaton College men's soccer history, being named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference first teams every year during that stretch. He is a two-time NEWMAC Player of the Year, was named a part of the all 25 NEWMAC team as well as a three-year starter on the Wheaton Men’s Basketball team. Following his Wheaton career, Greenslit played for the New England Revolution reserve squad in 2006 before suiting up for the New Hampshire Phantoms and the Western Mass. Pioneers of the United Soccer Leagues' (USL) Second Division in 2007 and 2008, respectively. For the New Hampshire Phantoms he was the only player on the team to be an all-star for the 2007 USL Season.

Greenslit joined the Roger Williams University community in 2015 after spending three seasons (and five seasons total) at Wheaton College (Mass.). He also served as an assistant at Division I College of the Holy Cross and Northeastern University for two years each. In addition to his college coaching and playing experience, Greenslit also served as a Director of Coaching for the FC Boston Bolts and holds his National Diploma from United Soccer Coaches.
