One of the top goal scorers in Pacific Lutheran men's soccer history, Jamie Bloomstine joined the PLU coaching staff first in 1997 and again in 2000. He holds the distinction of being one of the longest serving assistant coaches at the same school in all of NCAA Div. III soccer. On Sept. 28, 2014, he coached his 300th game for the Lutes against Willamette and coached his 400th game for the Lutes on Sept. 29, 2019 against Whitman.

Bloomstine played for PLU from 1992-1996 and earned First-Team All-Conference and All-Region honors during his junior and senior seasons. He also earned NSCAA Second-Team All-West Coast honors during his senior season. He was the first player in the history of the men's soccer program to be drafted to play professional soccer, as he was selected by the Vancouver 86ers in the third round of the A-League draft in December 1995.

During his playing career at PLU, Bloomstine scored 31 goals playing at forward and midfield. His goal tally was one of the highest totals for goals in a career at the time of his graduation. He has primarily worked with the forwards as a coach, and several players have surpassed his overall goals total under his guidance.

Bloomstine also works for Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer. He works in several coaching capacities for the organization. He and PLU head coach John Yorke co-coached the 1997 Boys Elite Player Development (EPD) team from 2010-2012. The team won the Far West ODP Regionals held in Phoenix, Ariz., in January 2012. The team went undefeated in the tournament and beat Cal-North in the final by a score of 4-0. In 2011 the team lost in the final of ODP Regionals, also held in Phoenix. The majority of the players on the 1997 Boys EPD team went on to play for the Sounders Academy teams and currently play for many NCAA Div. I soccer programs. Bloomstine also works as a Youth Development Coach for the Sounders, as well as a staff coach for corporate clinics.

Bloomstine has previously coached for Washington Premier FC and FC United. In 2007-2008 he coached WPFC 87 Boys Black to an overall record of 36-5-5. The team was ranked as high as No. 4 in the nation for U19 boys. The team went undefeated during the regular season, won the WSYSA state championship for Boys U19, and competed at the Far West Regionals in Las Vegas. The team lost in the semi-finals to eventual champion Cal-South. Two players on the team were drafted by the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer after their collegiate careers at UC Santa Barbara.

Bloomstine holds three degrees from PLU. He first earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication in May 1996. He completed his Master of Arts degree in Education in August 2001. He went on to earn a subsequent Bachelor of Arts degree in History in December 2005. He also holds a USSF National B Coaching License as well as NSCAA Level II Goalkeeping Diploma.

Bloomstine is the district-wide Elementary Physical Education teacher for Cascade Christian Schools. He works at four campuses for CCS. He resides in Tacoma with his wife Tonya, a 1997 graduate of PLU, and their children Carson and Paige.
