Jeff Bjorklund, Professor of Chemistry

B.S. Saint John’s University (Minn.)

Ph.D. University of Minnesota

Post Doc at University of Washington

A member of the North Central faculty since 1995, Dr. Bjorklund has been a mentor for the men’s soccer team since 2009.

“I originally got involved because I was asked by Diane Anstine but I am interested in soccer. Both of my kids play soccer and while I never played competitively, I also enjoy playing soccer. Science is a very international discipline and in all of the labs I have worked there have been Europeans who wanted to play soccer instead of softball.”

“I enjoy attending the games and occasionally attend practices as well. I thought it would be a good idea for me to be the faculty advisor to all of the freshman soccer players and that has allowed me to get to know the players faster than if I was just watching them. We think that it helps us bridge the gap between athletics and academics in a more effective way.”
