Joe McCauley returned to Bellarmine University as a men’s assistant prior to the 2022 season.

With McCauley onboard, Bellarmine in 2022 achieved a winning record (6-4-8) for the first time in the Division-I era. The Knights earned a berth in the ASUN Championship semifinals after defeating Stetson in PKs in the quarterfinals. Four players garnered ASUN All-Conference laurels.

McCauley previously was the women’s head coach at Bellarmine for five seasons from 1993-97, highlighted by a 10-7 campaign in 1995. He was the women’s head coach of former GLVC rival Missouri S&T for 12 years from 2010-21 and took the Miners to their first-ever GLVC Tournament title game in 2014. He left as the program’s all-time winningest coach by 30 wins.

Before arriving at S&T, McCauley served as the head women’s soccer coach for six seasons at Eckerd (Fla.) College. He preceded that by serving as the goalkeepers coach at Northern Illinois University for five seasons, helping guide the Huskies to the 1998 Mid-American Conference title.
