John Carrier is in his sixth season as the head men's soccer coach at UAH after being named the program's head coach on July 2, 2018, returning back to Huntsville where he was an assistant for three seasons from 2014-16 before serving as the top assistant at Bryan in 2017.

Overall in his time in Huntsville, Carrier has guided five D2CCA All-South Region performers, six CSC Academic All-District honorees, nine All-GSC awardees and two GSC All-Academic Team members.

While at Bryan in 2017, Carrier aided the Lions in posting a 14-6 record en route to an appearance in the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament semifinals, and the squad featured an All-American in addition to the AAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year and six all-AAC first team selections.

During his three seasons as an assistant in Huntsville, the Chargers reached the GSC tournament each year and enjoyed particularly strong success in 2014 and 2015. UAH went 29-20-3 during Carrier's tenure as assistant coach, while garnering 16 All-GSC honorees.

Carrier starred as a player at Tennessee Wesleyan, helping turn a program around as the team reached the national tournament for the first time in more than 10 years. Carrier was a four-time all-conference selection, leading the Bulldogs to a pair of conference championships. A three-time NAIA All-East Region selection, he led TWC in assists each of his four seasons and ranked in the top five in the country in assists in 2012.

Carrier also played for Bridges FC in Chicago his freshman year and also played five seasons with Chattanooga FC of the NPSL. A fan favorite, Carrier helped the team to four conference championships, three region championships, and two appearances in the national finals.

Prior coming to America, Carrier was a part of the academy at Norwich City FC in England.
