Julia Lovely M.S., LAT, ATC was named Assistant Athletic Trainer in July 2022. She will work with the Bengal women's soccer, football, swimming and diving, men's basketball, and softball programs in her first year.

Lovely, an athletic training veteran, arrives to Buffalo State after spending the Spring semester at nearby Villa Maria College as the program's head athletic trainer, where she helped update testing and concussion policies while also creating a mental health management plan for the College's student-athletes.

Lovely arrived to Buffalo in January after spending two years at Williams College in Western Massachusetts as the program's assistant athletic trainer. Lovely worked with the College's field hockey, men's soccer, swimming and diving, rugby, squash, and track and field programs, as well as a host of club sports. Working through the early part of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lovely helped develop COVID-19 guidelines and policies for the College. Lovely also served an assistant athletic training role at Bard College in the Hudson Valley, where she worked with the men's soccer, men's basketball, tennis, and squash programs.

Outside of college athletics, Lovely served a number of roles at Excelsior Orthopedics (Amherst, N.Y.), the Allegheny Health Network (Pa.), the CATS Academy (Boston, Mass.), and Advanced Physical Therapy Solutions (Hope Mills, N.C.).

Lovely received her training at Norwich University and Springfield College. She received her undergrad degree from Norwich in 2014, earning degrees in athletic training and health sciences with a concentration in sports medicine. At Springfield, Lovely worked as a graduate athletic trainer, working with the women's soccer and softball programs, while earning a M.S. in Exercise Science and Sport Sciences, with a concentration in Athletic Training Rehabilitation in 2017.
