Matt Perrella joins the Saint Joseph’s men's soccer staff after two successful seasons with Camden County College in the NJCAA. In two seasons, Perrella led the Cougars to two NJCAA National Semifinals and two Region 19 titles. During his time with CCC, Perrella coached two All-Americans and recorded an impressive 31-5-2 record, being named the Coach of the Year in both of his seasons.

Perrella also leads the USL2 side Ocean City Nor'easters, who came off an 8-1-5 regular season record in 2023 and advanced to the national quarterfinals before losing 4-2 in overtime to eventual finalist Lionsbridge FC. In the previous season as the club’s first assistant, Ocean City went 11-0-3. During his two-year span, Perrella has helped five players go pro and has had one USL2 Player of the Year, one USL2 Golden Glove winner and two USL2 Best XI players.

As a player, Perrella spent four years at Rider University, serving the team as a captain in three of those seasons. Following Rider, Perrella went on to get his MBA from Durham University in England. While playing for Durham University, he was scouted by Newcastle United. Perella kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win against the Magpies’ reserve team, earning himself a trial with the premier league club. Perrella also held trials with Udinese Calcio in Italy, LB Châteauroux in France, FK Daugava Riga in Latvia and APOEL FC in Cyprus.

In 2016, Perrella signed with Bethlehem Steel, the Philadelphia Union affiliate club before moving on to Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL Championship in 2017.

Overall, Matt had stints with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Bethlehem Steel, North Carolina FC while also spending time with MLS side Sporting Kansas City. Perrella also played in the MASL for three seasons with the Harrisburg Heat and Milwaukee Wave.

Matt grew up in North Brunswick, N.J. and attended North Brunswick Twp. High School and St. Benedict's Prep and currently resides in Haddon Township, N.J.
