Matthew Roop returned to Manchester University as the assistant men's soccer coach in March 2023. The fall 2023 season will mark his first season back on the Black & Gold sideline.

Roop graduated Summa Cum Laude from Manchester University in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in both marketing and sport management along with a minor in sales. During his Spartan career, Roop was a four-year starter and three-year captain on the men's soccer team. Roop also was a two-year Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference all-league honoree and the team MVP as a senior year. He also earned the Director’s Award as a senior, which goes to the athlete with the highest GPA at Manchester, and the Eikenberry Award, which goes to the top senior student in the Gilbert School of Business.

During his time at Manchester, Roop coached club soccer at the Fort Wayne Sport Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for two seasons.

Prior to returning to North Manchester, Roop was a volunteer coach with the Ohio State Men’s Soccer program in 2022 after spending the last two years at the University of Illinois earning a master’s degree in recreation, sport, and tourism while serving as the Premium Seating Graduate Assistant and as an Illinois Soccer Manager.
