Davis & Elkins Director of Athletics Patrick Snively announced the hiring of Meir Lewin as Head Men’s Soccer Coach on May 9, 2023.

Lewin comes to D&E from NCAA Division I La Salle University, where he served as assist coach for one season. La Salle made an Atlantic-10 Tournament quarterfinal appearance. Players earned two all-conference awards, two Philly Soccer 6 All Star awards, and 2 Philly Soccer All Rookie honors. The team also earned a 3.5 team grade point average.

Prior to La Salle, Lewin served as head coach at NCAA Division III North Carolina Wesleyan for three seasons. He led the program to a 30-12-6 overall record, two regular season USA South Conference Championships, one USA South Conference Tournament Championship, one USA South Conference Tournament runner-up finish, and one NCAA Tournament appearance. Players earned one First-team All-American honor, ten All-Tournament awards, nine All-Region awards, and twenty-five all-USA South Conference honors. The team also earned a 3.2 overall team grade point average.

Prior to being elevated to head coach at North Carolina Wesleyan, Lewin served one season as assistant coach for the program.

Lewin also coached for one season at NCAA Division III Mary Washington University. As an assistant with the program, he helped lead the program to a CAC Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Lewin began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant at NCAA Division III Washington College. In his two seasons with Washington, he assisted in recruiting, designing and implementing practice plans, and opponent scouting and analysis.

“I am thrilled to be joining Davis & Elkins College Men's Soccer,” shared Lewin. “This is a program with a rich history of success over many years and I consider it an honor to be named Head Coach. I cannot wait to get to work with the team and my new colleagues at D&E. Thank you to President Wood, Patrick Snively, and the entire search committee for entrusting me with this program. Throughout the interview process it was made clear to me that the athletic department and men's soccer hold an important place in the D&E community. I am humbled by this opportunity and look forward to contributing to the legacy of D&E Soccer.”

“Our men’s soccer program is at a pivotal moment,” said Snively. “We have a rich history and a strong alumni base and have attained a high level of success over the past few seasons. We needed to find a coach that not only had the ability to look forward to continuing to build the program to be at the highest level of our conference and achieve on the National stage, but also one that has a keen understanding of tradition and the importance of values and principles associated with the connection to alums, campus, and community. We found that in Coach Lewin and are excited to support his vision.”

Lewin played professionally in Israel for Hapoel Herzliya from 2007-2011. He captained the team from 2009-2010 and made 72 starts in 79 total appearances. He was named to the League-Best-11 in 2009.

Lewin earned a bachelor’s in Government from the Interdisciplinary Center of Herzilya, Israel and a master’s in English from Washington College.

He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Kinesiology and Physical Cultural Studies from the University of Maryland.
