Michael Hannon joined the Cal State East Bay men's soccer coaching staff in August 2023. With over a decade of coaching experience, Michael 'Mikey' Hannon is set for his first year as an assistant coach with the men's soccer program.

Hannon was most recently the Head Coach of Project 51O, the reserve team of USL Championship side Oakland Roots. During his tenure, Hannon won the USL 2 Southwest Conference and was nominated for Coach of the Year. Hannon also lead 51O to a UPSL Norcal League title. He saw his players gain an academy contract with the first team, and this year seeing, fellow CCAA player Danny Gomez gain a professional contract with the Roots. Also, during the 2022 season, Mikey stepped in to help as interim second assistant coach with the Oakland Roots under Noah Delgado, who took over as head coach.

Prior to the Roots, Hannon spent the 2019 season at St Mary's College of California as a Volunteer Assistant under the guidance of Gaels' head coach Adam Cooper. That season, the team went on to sweep conference matches and gain back-to-back WCC titles.

Hannon also spent the 2017 Season and Lycoming College in Pennsylvania, where he served as an assistant women's soccer coach.

Hannon started his career working as an assistant coach with the Swansea City Football Club Academy in his hometown of Swansea, and the Arsenal Soccer School.

Currently, Hannon serves as Technical/ECNL Director at 1974 Newark and is also the Domestic Scout at the Oakland Roots.

A native of Swansea, Wales, Hannon spent time at the University of Glamorgan studying Football Coaching and Performance.

He currently holds a USSF B License through US Soccer.
