Chaves in the Portuguese Second Division (Segunda Liga), before he returned to the U.S to finish his B.S. Degree in Physical Education & Health at SCSU.  He was also a member of the Connecticut squad that won the National Championship in the U.S. Open Amateur Soccer Cup.
