Riley Hanley was hired in April of 2022 as the Santa Clara University assistant men's soccer coach.

Hanley previously served in the same capacity at UC Santa Cruz for four seasons and along with his duties at UCSC, he was also a youth and fitness coach at the Santa Cruz Breakers Academy since 2018.

Prior to his stint at UCSC and at the Breakers Academy, Hanley played professionally for the Reno 1868 FC, the San Jose Earthquakes USL affiliate, in 2017.  He also had multiple training stints with MLS and USL team with the San Jose Earthquakes and Houston Dynamo.

Hanley's collegiate playing experience encompassed a four-year career at Saint's Mary where he was part of the school's first-ever West Coast Conference championship and an NCAA Elite 8 appearance in 2011.

He played in 58 matches from 2011-14 for the Gaels and was named to the WCC All-Freshman team and tallied a goal at No. 7 UC Irvine in the NCAA Tournament to send the team to the Sweet Sixteen round.

The Mountain View, California native received his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Saint Mary's.
