Ross Stewart joined the Saint Francis men's soccer program in June 2023 as an assistant coach.

Stewart completed his first season as an assistant coach at Saint Francis by helping lead the team to the program's first unbeaten record of 7-0-7 and to earn the NEC Regular Season Champions title for just the second time in program history. Stewart was also a part of the NEC's 2023 Coaching Staff of the Year. Stewart helped coach five All-Conference team members, including NEC Goalkeeper of the Year Jordaine Jaeger and NEC Defensive Player of the Year, Tom Schellbach.

Stewart arrives to Loretto after a two-year stint at Mercyhurst University, where he served as the assistant coach. In Stewart’s time at Mercyhurst he helped lead the team to back-to-back PSAC West regular season titles, to a PSAC Championship title and to go on to the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament this past year. He was also a part of United Soccer Coaches DII Atlantic Region 2022 Coaching Staff of the Year.

Stewart played an integral role in developing training sessions and recruiting at Mercyhurst. Gomes recently signed with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

Prior to his two years at Mercyhurst, Stewart spent a year and a half as the first team and U19 coach for the Crusaders Strikers Women FC in his native Northern Ireland. Stewart was responsible for developing training sessions, recruitment and player development.

At the conclusion of his collegiate playing career, Stewart transitioned to a coaching role where he served as an assistant coach at Daemen College. He also served a short term as interim head coach.

The Bangor, Northern Ireland native earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Davis & Elkins College in 2017. Stewart was a member of the 2016 Davis & Elkins GMAC regular season champions team and helped lead the team to back-to-back appearances in the GMAC tournament as a player.

Stewart also has a M.S. in International Business from Daemen (’19) and a M.S. in Data Science from Mercyhurst (‘23).
