Stephen Teal joined the Chapman soccer coaching staff in the spring of 2023 and will serve as the program's Recruiting Coordinator. Teal brings over 20 years of coaching experience with him to Chapman, including eight years of experience in the SCIAC.

From 2014-22, Teal has been on the staff at Whittier College. He began as an assistant in 2014 and took over the Recruiting Coordiantor role one year later. In 2021, Teal was named the Assosciate Head Coach for Whittier.

Teal is also the winningest boy's soccer coach in Brea-Olinda High School history. With a record of 213-139-5, he has guided Brea-Olina to multiple conference titles and top-10 rankings in Orange County. He took over the program in 2003 and led his team to the CIF-Southern Section semifinals in 2007. The team finished in the top-10 in Orange County in 2007, 2012 and 2013. It also won back-to-back North Hills League titles in 2017 and 2018.

His career began as the freshman coach at Brea-Olinda while he has also led successful club teams with the AC Brea Boys. 

Teal has a USSF National C License and D License as well as a California E license. He graduated from San Jose State in 1992 with a degree in Economics and earned his Master's from Cal State Fullerton in 1998.
