Stephon Williams is going into his third season as the Converse men’s soccer coach and his tenth year overall coaching. In his first season at Converse, Williams helped coach the Valkyries to an 8-8-2 regular season along with assisting the team to a postseason birth in the first round of the 2021 Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament. Williams was also a volunteer assistant coach for the women’s soccer team here at Converse during the 2020 season.

Prior to Converse, Williams was the assistant men’s soccer coach at Truett McConnell University from the spring of 2019 to the fall of 2020. While in this position, Williams prepared, planned, conducted and evaluated practice sessions tailored to team needs, prepared scouting reports, recruited domestic and international prospective student-athletes and facilitated academic monitoring of student-athletes.

 Before Truett McConnell, Williams was the men’s soccer graduate assistant at the University of Pikeville where he helped develop the program’s first 2x All-Conference Selection Goalkeeper, trained and developed all keepers and assisted in the recruitment of all domestic prospective student-athletes.

Williams has spent many years at the club level, holding various positions at many different clubs. He severed as a head coach for the girls U16 and U17 teams at Carolina Elite Soccer Academy from 2020-2022, Director of Camps/Clinics & Juniors Program at the Rochester Futbol Club from 2016-2017, head coach of the girls U12, U14 and U16 teams at the Rochester Futbol Club from 2016-2017 and was the head academy coach for the boys U14 team at Club Sando FC in San Fernando, Trinidad in 2010.

Williams has served as a site supervisor for the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship, Talent Identification Trinidad & Tobago YWNT and a Development Staff Coach and Summer Staff Coach in Trinidad and Tobago.

Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Williams came to the United States to play soccer for Truett McConnell as a defender from 2012-2015. Williams was a 3x All-Conference selection for the Bears.
