Vic Cegles was named Deputy Athletic Director in October of 2019. He joined UAlbany Athletics in February of 2016 as Associate Athletic Director for Revenue Enhancement. As Deputy Athletic Director, Cegles has sport supervisory responsibilities for football, men’s basketball, men’s soccer, and women’s lacrosse. He leads all external areas within the department, including marketing, communications, and ticket operations, while also developing strategic incentives to grow revenue for the department. Cegles also leads all corporate sales initiatives, is the department’s liaison to its apparel provider, Under Armour, and is responsible for future football scheduling.
Prior to UAlbany, Cegles served as the Director of External Relations at the University of Minnesota. At Minnesota, he was a major gift fundraiser and oversaw the sales and stewardship of premium seating for Gopher Athletics. Before joining Golden Gopher Athletics, Vic held the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Development at Virginia Commonwealth University. Cegles was responsible for raising funds to support the school’s athletic endeavors, the day-to-day operations of the Ram Athletic Fund, premium seating, and major gift fundraising. Cegles got his start in intercollegiate administration in the ticket office at VCU and was named Assistant Director of Ticketing and Development in 2009.
A native of Phoenix, Ariz., Cegles attended Rutgers University. He majored in Exercise Science with a concentration in Sport Management, while also lettering and playing second base for the Scarlet Knights. After graduation, Cegles signed a free agent contract with the Washington Nationals and played a summer for the Gulf Coast Nationals. While working at VCU, Cegles received his master's degree from VCU's Center for Sport Leadership in the summer of 2013.
The son of Vic and Bonnie Cegles, Vic grew up in and around college athletics as his father, Vic Cegles, was an athletic administrator for nearly 40 years. His father retired from UConn in 2019 as the Deputy Athletic Director after spending 10 years as the Athletic Director at Long Beach State University. Vic has four siblings: Lara, Pete, Amy, and Casey. Casey is the Deputy Athletic Director at Towson University.
Cegles resides in East Greenbush, N.Y. with his girlfriend Tovah, and her two sons, Merrik and Grayson.
