Zach Rowell was hired as the Director of Sports Performance and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in September of 2019.  In his role, he will oversee the strength and conditioning of the Fighting Knights’ 19 athletic programs.Rowell’s hire, coupled with the announcement of the Snyder Center for Health and Wellness, ushers in a new era of strength and conditioning at Lynn.  Thanks to a special gift from Larry and Elaine Smith, the new facility will have a dedicated space for the Fighting Knights’ student-athletes to improve athletic performance and prevent injuries.Rowell comes to Lynn from Davidson College where he served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Wildcats 21 sports, while working specifically with baseball, wrestling, golf, men’s and women’s soccer and both men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams. Prior to joining Davidson, Rowell worked with the strength and conditioning staff at Winthrop and Virginia Tech over a two-year span.  He implemented workouts for men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, softball, lacrosse, throwers, and baseball with the Eagles.

During his year-long stay at Virginia Tech, Rowell assisted the football strength and conditioning staff with program implementation and insured the safety and proper lifting techniques of athletes.

Rowell got started as a strength and conditioning coach as an intern, and eventually a graduate assistant, at UNC Pembroke in Pembroke, N.C. There, he worked with multiple sports working on year-round training programs and speed training and conditioning.

A 2011 graduate of UNC Pembroke, Rowell earned his master's in Physical Education with a concentration in exercise and sports administration. He finished his undergrad degree from Pembroke in 2009, earning a bachelor of science in biology.

Rowell has certifications with the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, National Strength (CSCCa) and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the United States Weightlifting (USAW).
