In Greco’s first year at the helm, he brought the program from a 2-12-2 overall record and an 1-9-2 conference record to a 4-11-1 overall record and 3-8-1 conference record.

The team hit some notable marks in Adams State Women’s Soccer Program history. The team recorded five clean sheets, tied for second in Adams State history; ranked 4th in the RMAC for 2022 season. For the second time in program history, three players were RMAC All-Conference honorees. Greco’s first season record was the second-best season record and second-best conference record in program history. In 2022, the Women’s Soccer Program finished 10th in RMAC conference, tying the highest finished position in Adams State history.

In the classroom, we had a team GPA of 3.3 for the year. We had five players make the CSC Academic All-District Team and we had eight make RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll. Notably, the team had five student-athletes receive a 4.0 GPA, ten having a 3.7 or higher and 15 receiving a 3.0 or higher.

What Alex had to say to wrap up the year: “First and foremost, our student-athletes did all the work. They were extremely coachable and wanted to grow the program on and off the field. We had a great start to our new era. We set out the season with multiple goals, but our top one was to end the season with nine points (in conference); we ended with ten points. We do not want this to be our high point! We want this to be the beginning and grow with each year.”

In April of 2022,  Adams State University Athletic Director Katelyn Smith has announced that Alex Greco has been hired as the sixth head coach for the women’s soccer program.

Greco comes to Alamosa after two seasons at NCAA Division I Iowa State where he was the Performance Analyst Assistant Coach for the Cyclones.

“"We are very excited to announce Coach Greco as our next Head Women's Soccer Coach,” said Smith. “He will be a huge asset to this department and I am eager and excited to see where he takes our Women's Soccer program."

While at ISU, Greco was on a coaching staff that set new highs for the Cyclones. During his time there, ISU had the longest unbeaten streak since 2010 and made it to the Big 12 Tournament where  they tied with TCU.

“I want to first thank Katelyn for giving me this opportunity and believing in me,” said Greco. “I am excited to be a part of the Grizzly family and the Women’s Soccer Program!”

Greco joined the Iowa State staff from Lynn University, where he served as the Fighting Knights’ interim head coach for the 2019 season.

Greco coached Lynn to a 7-8-3 season in 2019. Greco had previously served as the school’s assistant coach since May 2017. While at Lynn, Greco because the first coach since 2012 to take the Fighting Knights to the postseason and the 7-8-3 record is the best records for LU since 2011.

Greco arrived at Lynn following a one-year stint as the assistant women’s soccer coach at Spring Hill College.

Greco also comes to Alamosa with prior experience working at the highest levels of collegiate soccer. Before joining the Spring Hill College staff, Greco served as a volunteer assistant at Indiana University.  While at IU, Greco was a part of a coaching staff that saw a defensive scoreless streak of 463 minute that ranks second in school history. While working with the Hoosiers, Greco coached all positions and held the responsibility of developing practice plans and game tactics. He was also responsible for integrated video analysis and formulating scouting reports of opposing teams.

Greco joined the IU coaching staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2015 season after spending the previous two years as a volunteer assistant at UNC-Greensboro.

In his second season with UNCG, Greco served as the goalkeepers’ coach, helping freshman Chloe Buehler earn Southern Conference (SoCon) All-Freshman accolades. He also worked individually with all-conference players Georgia Brown, Rebecca Burrows and First Team All-Conference honoree Chesney White. In the spring of 2014, Greco served as an interim assistant coach, helping the Spartans sign their recruiting class for the year.

Before his time at UNCG, Greco was an assistant coach for Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., during the 2012-13 athletic season and served as the under-10 head soccer coach for the Team Boca club program. Greco was a camp counselor for Cardinal Gibbons High School from 2004-12 where he helped with training, equipment and motivating players for practice.

Greco completed his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration as a dual-major in Entertainment Sports Promotional Management and Business Management at Northwood University (now Keiser University) in West Palm Beach, Fla., where he also competed as a student-athlete on the men's soccer team.
