Andrew Montenegro joined the UC Santa Barbara Women’s Soccer Staff in April 2022. Previously, Montenegro served as a Zonal Director at LAFC Youth Soccer Club (formerly Real So Cal) for 13 years.

At UC Santa Barbara, Montenegro is entering his second season and is involved in all aspects of the program including training, scouting, recruiting, and more.

During his 13 years at LAFC (2009-2022), the club was recognized as one of the top youth clubs in the United States. The girl's side of the program played at the highest level of youth soccer in both the US Development Academy and ECNL. The club was consistently ranked as one of the Top 100 Girls Programs in the country by Top Drawer Soccer during his tenure.

From 1999-2009, Montenegro worked at the Eagles Soccer Club as a coach and Girls’ Youth Director. While at the Eagles Soccer Club, Montenegro was involved in all aspects of the program including coaching, recruiting, leadership, and even as the Tournament Director. The club won two USYSA National Championships while he was with the program.

In addition to his extensive youth experience, Montenegro also coached for three years at California Lutheran University. While at CLU, he helped guide the program to one NCAA DIII playoff appearance.

Montenegro graduated from California Lutheran University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and later earned a Master of Science in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University. He played college soccer at the University of California, Davis, and at California Lutheran University. Montenegro works in the local youth scene with Santa Barbara Soccer Club and is a coach educator for US Soccer. He holds his US Soccer “A” license and United Soccer Coaches National Premier License.

Montenegro and his wife live in Camarillo with their two children.
