Andy Byrne joined the women’s soccer staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2020 season. Byrne is no stranger to Ithaca College soccer as he served as the men’s coach for 31 years and retired in 2014 with a record of 301-174-58.

During his time as the men’s head coach, Byrne guided IC to NCAA postseason play 11 times, including a trip to the national semifinals in 1996 and quarterfinals appearances in 1995 and 1997.

A 1975 graduate of Plymouth State College, Byrne played for Gerd Lutter, a member of the Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame. A team captain, he earned earned four varsity letters. Byrne later spent time as an assistant coach for Lutter with the Panthers before earning a master’s degree at Eastern Illinois University.

Byrne was inducted into the Plymouth State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017.
