Brian Herr enters his 16th season with Lafayette, bringing two decades of coaching experience at the club, high school and collegiate levels to the Leopards. Lafayette has earned a spot in the Patriot League Tournament in 2016, 2017, and 2019. It marks the most successful run in program history. Herr coached Lauren Smedley to consecutive Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year awards in 2010 and 2011, the first time in Patriot League history that a player earned the distinction in back-to-back years.

Herr came to College Hill after spending three seasons as an assistant women's soccer coach at Villanova. With the Wildcats, he was responsible for training and developing the goalkeepers. In 2003, Herr helped mentor Villanova to a Big East Championship and a run to the NCAA Regional Semifinals. During his time with the Wildcats, he spent three years developing Jillian Loyden, who was a two-time Big East Goalkeeper of the Year and a First-Team NSCAA All-American. Loyden would go on to be capped 10 times with the US Women's National Team.

Prior to his stint at Villanova, Herr was a head coach and goalkeeping director for the FC Delco Soccer Club.  It was then that Herr and Statham established a working relationship, as both worked in the FC Delco circle.

Herr was a four-year starter in goal at Drexel, setting the benchmark for career and regular season saves as a senior. He currently ranks 14th all-time in NCAA Division I with 483 career saves. As a sophomore, he earned First Team North Atlantic Conference honors, while his senior season drew Second Team All-American East and Philadelphia Soccer 7 Goalkeeper of the Year accolades.

Professionally, Herr taught for eight years as a secondary math teacher in the West Chester Area School District. He also spent six years (1996-2001) as the assistant camp director and staff coach for the National Olympic Soccer Camps. Herr also has coaching experience on the high school level, as he spent five seasons as an assistant at Radnor (2001-2002) and Conestoga (1998-2000) high schools.
