LMU Women's Soccer Head Coach Chris Chamides has strengthened his inaugural staff with the hiring of Chelsey Patterson as Assistant Coach.

"We are thrilled to welcome Chelsey to LMU," said Chamides. "Her reputation as a young coach is outstanding."

Patterson joins the Lions after serving as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the University of Houston Women's Soccer program since February of 2020. In that role she helped lead the Cougars to the best record and win percentage in program history and was an integral part of the 2021 American Athletic Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

The 2021-2022 30 Under 30 Nominee mentored two All-Region, six All-AAC Members, and two Rookie All-AAC Members during her time at Houston.

"In both Chelsey's playing and coaching careers, we noted her competitiveness, integrity, enthusiasm, and leadership," added Chamides. "She will bring these qualities to our program and make us better. We can't wait to begin collaborating. On behalf of the staff and student-athletes, welcome Chelsey!"

With strong Southern California ties, Patterson transitioned into coaching at University of La Verne after a decorated career playing at Cal State Fullerton. A four-year starter for the Titans, Patterson helped lead her team to two Big West regular season championships, two Big West conference tournament championships, and two NCAA Tournament appearances.

Patterson earned her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Cal State Fullerton and her Master of Arts in Teaching at La Verne.
