Two-time University of Utah alumnus Cody Lockling has been part of the Utah Athletics family since 2011 and currently serves as Director of Olympic Sports Performance. Currently he oversees the performance training of the gymnastics, alpine skiing and women’s soccer programs, as well as overseeing the training of all Olympic Sport Program. As a member of the University of Utah’s High Performance Leadership Team (HPLT) Cody and the rest of the HPLT strive to create a collaborative environment of performance and wellness where student-athletes are safe, supported, and empowered to develop and succeed as individuals, teammates, and members of society.
He was promoted into his current role in July 2022, and previously guided the Utes’ Olympic programs as Associate of Sport Performance (2013-22) and graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach (2011-13).
Cody served as Utah State Director for the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He has organized and hosted several NSCA state clinics. He has frequently been invited to conferences to present on training and peak performance.
Among Lockling’s many certifications are NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), USA Weightlifting Level 1, as well as USATF Level 1.
He completed his Bachelor’s in exercise science at the U in 2011, later adding a Master’s in exercise physiology in 2013. In 2008, he earned an Associate’s in nutrition and personal training at Scottsdale Community College.
Lockling resides in Holladay, Utah, with his wife Kylie, daughter Sloane and German Shepherd Jax.
