Colby Keegan joined the athletic training staff in 2018 as the primary athletic trainer for the Coyote football team. He was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine in the summer of 2021.

Keegan oversees a staff of five full-time athletic trainers and three graduate assistants with state-of-the-art athletic training facilities in both the DakotaDome and the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.

Originally from Dupree, South Dakota, Keegan is a 2013 graduate of South Dakota State who went on to earn his master’s degree from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. While obtaining his master’s, Keegan was primarily responsible for the medical coverage of the Mocs’ football and men’s and women’s golf teams. He also spent a summer assisting men’s basketball.

Keegan was hired as an assistant athletic trainer by Marshall University in the summer of 2015. He spent his first year with the Thundering Herd’s men’s soccer and women’s swimming and dive teams and spent year two working with football and men’s and women’s golf.

Keegan returned to Chattanooga in July of 2017 as an assistant athletic trainer and picked back up with football and men’s and women’s golf. He also oversaw one intern and one graduate assistant.

Keegan is a NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the South Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the Tennessee Athletic Trainers’ Society.
