Mendez begins his second season as part of the women's soccer staff in 2023.
Prior to Catholic, Mendez spent one year as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Lyon College. As an assistant coach for the men's program, he held various responsibilities, including designing and developing difference practice plans, actively participating in the recruitment process and analyzing video of opponents for scouting purposes.
During his playing career, Mendez spent three years NAIA Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas. Prior to Lyon, he played two years at Iowa Western Community College. He helped his teams reach their respective conference finals in four out of five seasons.
In addition to coaching, Mendez works for Impact Soccer LTDA, based in his native Chile. During his time with the organization, he taken on multiple responsibilities. He has worked with professional teams to recommend players to professional teams through the organization's scouting procedures. He has also directed highlight videos for numerous players, including multiple professional athletes. As part of the organization's international relations team, he has drove and overseen the opening of new markets in the United States, Europe and other parts of the world, as well as managing social media accounts for the company. He takes pride in aiding the organization's clients in acheiving their best preformances by providing accomidations to fit their needs.
Prior to his time at Impact Soccer, Mendez spent time at One Sports Chile. Working as a office intern, he assisted in the planning and logistics of showcase tournaments around Chile. He also assisted in tracking the inventory of goods and directing the ordering and printing of apperal for more than 150 players and staff.
Mendez also possesses experience in the sport training of youth. He worked for over three years as a personal coach, planning and administering practice sessions for both groups and individuals. He focused on not only physical training but also assisting in mental training and education in knowledge of the game.
Mendez also worked as an assistant coach for youth club Council Bluffs Soccer Club in Iowa for a year. During his time at the club, he designed practices for children aged 6-10 and acted as a primary coach for the U12 and U9 teams.
