Kastl (née Banta) returned to San Francisco State in Spring 2021 as a volunteer assistant coach. She finished her college career as a Gator in 2018, making four appearances in net with one start. She went 1-0-1 with a .778 saves percentage and made seven total saves as the Gators advanced to the CCAA Championships Semifinals.

Banta graduated from Cal Poly in 2018 and earned her MS in Microbiology from SF State in 2020. Banta began her professional career as a research associate at Novome Biotechnologies, a San Francisco-based biotechnology company. She is currently enrolled in UC Santa Cruz's Biomedical Science and Engineering: Microbial Biology and Pathogenesis PhD program. For her dissertation research, Banta joined Nobel laureate Carol Greider's lab.

Banta began her collegiate soccer career at Fresno State, where she played 22 matches before transferring to Cal Poly, where she made the Big West Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll for academics. Banta attended Meridian High School in Idaho, where she was an All-5A District III honorable mention and team captain as a senior. She played her first two years at Moanalua High School in Honolulu. She is a member of the Moanalua Varsity Cross Country Hall of Fame after representing the program at the 2011 state championship meet, where she was 42nd overall with a 3-mile time of 22:24.40.
