Elisa Swanson is in her first season with the St. Bonaventure women's soccer program in 2023. She was officially appointed as an assistant coach in May 2023.

Swanson joins the Bonnies after spending three seasons on staff at Messiah University; two seasons as a full-time assistant coach and one as a graduate assistant. While with the Falcons, Swanson organized team speed and agility drills and worked specifically in the positional training of midfielders.

While on staff at Messiah, Swanson helped lead the program to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16 in 2021 and a Final Four bid in 2022.

Along with being an assistant coach at Messiah, Swanson filled various roles for the university, including serving as the strength and conditioning coach for all of the department's women's athletic teams for two years. Swanson also served as interim athletics ministry coordinator for the fall 2022 semester where she was responsible for building a mentor relationship with student-athletes, overseeing student-athlete chapel groups and directing sports camps for kids ages 6-13. Swanson also served as an adjunct wellness professor.

Prior to her time at Messiah University, she served as an intern for the women's soccer team at her alma mater Liberty University. While assisting the coaching staff at Liberty, Swanson was tasked with scheduling recruit visits, recruiting weekends, and breaking down game film.

A native Ottawa, Ontario, Swanson played four years as a student-athlete at Liberty where she served as team captain her junior and senior seasons while starting 16 of 17 games in 2018 as a defensive midfielder.

During her time at Liberty, the Flames made four Big South tournament appearances and won a conference championship in 2016.

Following graduation, Swanson started for the Charlotte Eagles women's semi-pro team in the summer of 2019 and Hershey FC in 2022.

Outside of the soccer field, Swanson has made a great impact in the community. She helped run a summer academy in 2021 for Mechanicsburg, Pa. athletes to train and learn leadership skills and was a part of monthly volunteering events in Lynchburg, Va. during her time at Liberty. Also, she participated in several volunteer mission trips to Columbia and Costa Rica.

Swanson earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science with a minor in French from Liberty in May 2020 and would go on to receive a master's degree in higher education and strategic leadership from Messiah in May 2022.
