Frankie Espinoza joins the TSU soccer program as an assistant coach for the 2022 season and has significant ties across the state of Texas both as a player and coach. 

Espinoza grew up in Brenham, Texas and played a key role in the success of the program with multiple appearances in the UIL State Soccer Tournament in 2003 and 2004 while also earning all-district honors his junior and senior campaigns. He earned an opportunity to play collegiately at Newberry College before closing out his career at Midwestern State where he helped them advance to the 2010 NCAA Division II Final Four. 

After earning a bachelor’s in applied arts & science, Espinoza began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Midwestern State before moving to Houston for a career in education at Jane Long Middle School while serving as the school’s soccer coach. He eventually entered the coaching ranks full-time as the Director of Coaching for the Aggieland Division of the Texans Soccer Club. Espinoza also had an opportunity to serve on the highest level for the NCAA as a volunteer coach at Texas A&M University of the SEC. 

While at Texas A&M from 2016-17, Espinoza was a part of a staff that won the 2017 SEC Conference Championship while earning consecutive appearances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. 

Espinoza, who holds a USSF C License, also has significant club experience as a coach with FC Dallas as a goalkeeper coach along with Calvary Soccer Club and Challenge Soccer Club as the Girl’s Youth Academy Director. He also has played with the Georgia Revolution FC of the National Premier Soccer League.
