First Day at Johns Hopkins: August 31, 2020

Greg Ridout enters his third season and fourth year as a member of head coach Dan Weiler's coaching staff.  During his first two seasons with the team, Ridout has helped guide the Blue Jays to a 39-2-4 record and the program's first NCAA Championship.

Ridout was instrumental in leading Johns Hopkins to a 23-0-2 record and a 21-game season-ending winning streak that culminated with a 2-1 win over Case Western in the 2022 NCAA Championship game.  The Blue Jays reeled off the 21-game run that included six wins in the NCAA Tournament to seal their championship.  Hopkins set a school record by scoring 99 goals during the 2022 season and outscored its six NCAA Tournament opponents 20-3.

Ridout, Weiler and assistant coach Jennifer Nance were named the United Soccer Coaches National Coaching Staff of the Year and the Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year after the magical 2022 season.  In addition, three Blue Jays earned All-America honors, one grabbed Academic All-America status and a program-record-tying eight players were named to the All-Centennial Conference Team.

In his first season at Hopkins, Ridout and the Blue Jays advanced to the Sweet 16 and posted a 16-2-2 record. Hopkins went a perfect 10-0 during the Centennial Conference regular season and reached as high as #2 in the United Soccer Coaches poll during the 2021 season.

There was no shortage of individual honors in 2021 as a pair of Blue Jays were named United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Americans in Katie Sullivan and Bonnie Shea. Five Blue Jays earned All-Region honors two earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

Ridout arrived at Hopkins after guiding DeSales University to MAC Freedom postseason play in each of his five years, winning the Championship in 2015 and earning MAC Freedom Coach of the Year honors. Under his guidance as head coach, the women’s program set school records in almost every statistical category and he is currently the program leader in career wins and winning percentage.  

Under Ridout, DeSales saw 22 players earn All-MAC Freedom honors including: one Offensive Player of the Year, one Rookie of the Year, four NSCAA All-Region honorees, and one Academic All-American honoree.

Prior to DeSales he spent eight years as an assistant coach at various programs including the University of Lynchburg, University of Richmond, University of Minnesota-Morris, and North Carolina Wesleyan College.

Ridout is a 2007 graduate of Randolph-Macon College, where he earned his bachelor's degree in History. He went on to earn his Masters of Educational Leadership from Lynchburg in 2009.

Ridout was a four-year letter winner at R-MC and led the team team in goals and points in three of his four years.  The Yellow Jackets were ranked as high as #11 in the NSCAA national rankings during his career and he was named a member of the all-decade team at R-MC in 2020.  

Ridout holds an NSCAA National, Advanced National, and Premier Diplomas.

A native of Chester, Virginia, He currently resides in Baltimore with his wife, Trina Ridout, and their children, Miles and Charlotte.
