Seattle University men’s soccer has announced the hiring of Jake Feener as an assistant coach for the 2018 season. Feener, a 2014 graduate, joins Coach Pete Fewing’s staff as goalkeeping recruiting coordinator.

In the Spring 2021 campaign, Feener worked with goalkeeper Akili Kasim as he earned Second Team All-WAC honors. Kasim finished eighth nationally with 5.1 saves per game and claimed three shutouts.

Feener was key in SU's run to the 2019 WAC regular-season and tournament titles. Akili Kasim was named WAC Tournament MVP, making three saves in penalty kicks to clinch the Redhawks' tournament crown at Air Force. Kasim totaled 10 shutouts as SU won an NCAA Tournament match for the fourth straight appearance.

In 2018, Feener worked with senior Josh Adachi, who played every minute of the season in goal on his way to earning All-WAC First Team recognition. SU's defense played a large role in the team winning 13 games to extend its streak of 11-win seasons to six years.

Feener had been the goalkeeper coach at Oral Roberts for three years. He helped the team advance to the 2015 Summit League finals.

Feener appeared in 51 matches as SU’s goalkeeper. As a senior in 2013, he was named All-WAC First Team after leading the nation in saves with 162. The Rocklin, California, native recorded a 1.38 goals against average in 24 starts. Feener compiled an .821 save percentage and five shutouts. He was chosen WAC Tournament MVP, leading the Redhawks to their first WAC Championship title.

For two seasons, Feener played for the Tulsa Roughnecks of the United Soccer League. He started 28 matches and picked up a USL Player of the Week award.

In 2017, Seattle U won its third WAC Championship in the last five years. It won, 3-2 in overtime, at Washington in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Fewing has guided SU to at least 11 wins in each of the last five seasons-one of five Division I programs to achieve the feat.
