Vega joined the Monarch coaching staff prior to the 2021-22 academic year. He is familiar with the Fayetteville area as he started his coaching career here almost 12 years prior. Along with being on the coaching staff at Methodist, he is the head coach of the Lady Rams at Cleveland High School in Clayton, N.C.

In 2020, Vega and the Lady Rams had one of the best seasons in Cleveland HS history. The team finished 14-1-1 after going undefeated in the regular season for the first time in school history. Before going on to win their conference title, the team did not concede a single goal to opposing conference teams. From this team six players were named to the All-Conference, two to the All-Region, and one to the All-State teams. The player named to all state was the first in school's history.

He would return to coaching in 2019 at Carrboro HS, after being out in 2018. While there he was apart of a staff that coached a team to an undefeated State Championship Title.

From 2014 to 2017, Vega coached at Jack Britt HS, right here in Fayetteville, where he was in charge of the boy's junior varsity and girl's varsity teams, while assisting with the boy's varsity. In 2014, he helped coach the boy's varsity program to an undefeated regular season. In his tenure, the JV team never lost a single conference match. The 2016 girl's varsity team won 18 games that year and be the first team in school's history to win an away playoff game.

He started his coaching career at South View Middle School from 2012-2014, where he coached both the boy's and girl's teams.

He holds a class D coaching license through the United States Soccer Federation and is a certified and accredited interscholastic coach.

Not only is Vega a coach but also an educator as well. He has been for over 13 years and currently works for Wake County Schools where he is a certified Transition Training Facilitator and Job Coach Coordinator.

He is married to his wife, Dr. Dana Vega, who is also an educator and former teacher of the year. Together they have two amazing children who are both in college. He is also a United States Navy Veteran, who has been stationed in California, Virginia and Camp Lejeune with deployments overseas with several aircraft carriers.
