In April 2016, Jessica Shufelt was named Head Coach of the Keuka College Women’s Soccer team. She previously served as an assistant coach the past two years before being named head coach.
"We are excited to have Jessica join our staff," said Director of Athletics David Sweet. "She brings a wealth of soccer experience to our soccer programs and has demonstrated an ability to connect with our student-athletes at Keuka College."
She brings her talents to Keuka following a decorated playing career in college and on the professional level. Shufelt, a Greece, N.Y. native, helped lead the Greece Arcadia Titans to a New York State Class AA Championship in 2007 by scoring the game-winning goal in extra time of the championship game. She was named the New York State Player of the Year that season. In her career, Shufelt scored a school-record 89 goals.
Jessica Shufelt was offered a scholarship to play at the University of Connecticut. She helped the Huskies make back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010. The last two years at UConn, she was named a team captain. She had 11 goals and 10 assists in her four-year career at UConn. Shufelt graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2012 with a degree in sport management.
She began her professional career in Ottawa, Canada with the Ottawa Fury of the USL W-League. She scored 10 goals in 23 career games in Ottawa, helping the Fury to the league title.
In 2013, Shufelt moved to Portland, Ore., playing for the Portland Thorns of the National Women's Soccer League, the top league of American women's soccer. The Thorns would go on to win the 2013 championship.
