Joe Nick joined the NJIT women’s soccer staff as a volunteer coach in August 2016, having most recently served as the FC Bucks Professional club coach in Pennsylvania.

A graduate from Truman State University with a degree in History, Nick was a four-year starter for the Bulldogs from 1993-1996 and assistant coach from 2009-2011.

Nick entered college coaching in 2009 at his alma mater and a year later, Truman State advanced to the 2010 NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time since 2005.

As a player, Nick was a key member of Truman State NCAA Division II tournament teams in 1993 and 1995 and three Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) championships (1994, 1995, 1996), receiving all-American recognition as a senior.

Following his playing career at Truman State, Nick joined the United Soccer League as a member of the Des Moines Menace in Iowa in 1996.

He moved to the Philadelphia Freedom Professional USL in 1997, where he helped capture the Northeast Conference Championship and was selected USL National Player of the Week twice.

Nick joined the South Jersey Barons Professional USL in 1999 for a successful three-year stint, which included a regular season national championship. He was selected as the USL National Player of the Week three times and ranked second on the team in goals and points.

He finished his playing career with the Philadelphia Kixx of the Major Indoor Soccer League in 2001.

Nick holds a USSF “B” coaching license.
