Biography

John Hawks recently completed his first season as interim head coach of NNU women's soccer in the fall of 2023 after five previous years with the program.

After four years as an assistant and last season as associate head coach, Hawks took on an Interim Head Coach role for the fall of 2023. During the fall, NNU head coach Mary Ybarguen stepped back into a lesser role after welcoming a new baby into the world in September.

During the 2023 season, NNU finished fifth in the GNAC standings. Four players earned All-GNAC honors, led by Makayla Roggow on the First Team and Nicole Lewis as the conference's Freshman of the Year. Roggow also received All-Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches association.

Hawks came to NNU after spending the prior three years at the University of Missouri, first as a volunteer assistant with the women's soccer team and then as the team's director of operations.

Prior to joining Missouri, Hawks was an assistant coach for the Muriel Battle High School boys and girls soccer teams and had also been a National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association sanctioned referee since 2014 and a Missouri State High School Activities Association referee since 2011.

He also refereed the 2014 American Midwest Conference women's postseason and the 2015 AMC men's postseason.
