Kat Van Orden came to Hollins as the head soccer coach in the fall of 2021.

Hollins is Van Orden's first stint as a head coach on the collegiate level but she is no stranger to soccer in the Roanoke area. The Chesapeake native was a four-year starter for the Roanoke College Maroons, spanning from 2016 to 2020.

She finished her playing career with 15 goals and an assist. She was the team's leading scorer during her junior season, tallying six goals. During her four years on the team, the Maroons amassed 40 wins and advanced to the ODAC tournament in each of her four seasons, making it to the semifinals in 2017.

She graduated from RC with a bachelor's degree in health and exercise science before going on to earn her master's degree in Exercise Science and Wellness: Fitness and Performance. Kat is also a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach.

Van Orden resides in Salem.
