Kate Hofstede arrived at Bard in March of 2021 as the Head Women's Soccer coach and will be in her third season at the helm. 

Since beginning her career at Bard College, Hofstede has shown improvement in total wins, shot statistics, goals per game and overall shutouts. 

During the 2023 season, the Raptors had its best season since the 2017 season. The Raptors earned their first points in the Liberty League with the tie against Vassar College. It was the first Liberty League points for the Raptors since beating Ithaca in 2017. It also marks the first shutout in program history against Vassar College after 24 matches since 1994. Hofstede had two Raptors named to the All-Liberty League Team. Carina Cooke and Emma Kuntz were both named to the All-Liberty League Honorable Mention. Nine Raptors were named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team, including five Raptors that were named to the 2023 Division III College Sports Communication Academic All-District. 

Under Hofstede, the Raptors have been active in the community and with fundraising, such as hosting a Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation game and a Morgan's Message Mental Health Awareness game. 

In 2022, Bard was one of 11 nationwide to earn the Gold Award from the United Soccer Coaches for ethics and sportsmanship. 13 Raptors were named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team, including one Raptor (Felicia Flores) who was named to the College Sports Communications Academic All-District. 

In her first season at the helm,  Hofstede had two Raptors that named to the All-Liberty League Team. Felicia Flores and Madeline Chilton were both named to the All-Liberty League Honorable Mention. Flores then goes on to play for the Hudson Valley Crusaders of United Women's Soccer League Two. 15 Raptors were named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team. 

A former player and coach on the NCAA Div. I level, Hofstede has years of experience in coaching, recruiting and player development. She was the head coach at Marist College from 2011-17, earning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year after the 2011 season. In 2012, she led the squad to a program-record 15 wins, and overall in six seasons at Marist, the Red Foxes made five MAAC Tournament appearances. As a member of the Diversity Council at Marist, she and the team were involved in several events on and off campus related to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Hofstede holds a United States Soccer Federation 'A' Coaching License.  She earned her B.A. in sociology and education from Columbia University in 2005. Hofstede completed the Barnard Education Program at Columbia. She completed her Master of Arts in Physical Education at Columbia in the spring of 2011.  She currently works with Steel United in the Hudson Valley and coaches a high school age premier team.  Her connections with the United States Youth National Program are for evaluation and scouting of future national team talent in the East Region.  

Coach Hofstede is currently married to husband, Jeroen and has 3 children, Peter, Victoria and Xavi.
