Katelyn Kight joined the Florida Gators strength staff as a strength and conditioning coordinator for gymnastics and soccer in January of 2023.

Kight has seven years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level. Prior to her position at Florida, she was an assistant sports performance coach at the University of Central Florida working with the women’s soccer team. While at UCF, a Knight earned American Athletic Conference Offensive (2022), Defensive (2019), Goalkeeper (2021 & 2022) and Midfielder (2021) of the Year accolades. UCF won the 2022 AAC regular-season title and advanced to the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

Kight also worked with UCF’s softball and track and field teams. Both teams swept 2022 AAC championships, with softball winning the regular-season and tournament titles and track & field collecting the indoor and outdoor trophies. UCF softball advanced to 2022 NCAA Super Regional action.

Before joining the Knights, Kight was at University of Maryland Baltimore County as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. At UMBC she worked with the women’s soccer, softball, track and field and cross country teams.

In 2015, Kight was a strength and conditioning intern first at South Florida and then the University of Maryland.

Prior to focusing on helping the athlete in strength and conditioning, Kight was head coach at Tampa Elite Lacrosse (2015) and Potomac State College lacrosse (2014 & 2015 seasons).

Kight was a member of Frostburg State University’s lacrosse team, graduating in 2013 with a degree in Exercise Science. She also obtained her master’s degree in Exercise Science with a specialization in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention in 2015 from California University of Pennsylvania.

She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA and a USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Coach. Kight is also CPR/AED certified.
