Kelsey Wys was brought on staff as an assistant coach with Mizzou soccer Feb. 2022.

Wys joined the Tigers after serving as an assistant with Appalachian State for two seasons from 2020-21. She helped the Mountaineers to nine clean sheets during her two seasons with App State while functioning as the goalkeeper coach. Wys would also assist with game planning, specifically on the defensive side.

Before turning to coaching, Wys saw success with UMF Selfoss of the Icelandic Urvalsdeild kvenna. In Aug. 2019., she helped Selfoss to a 2-1 defeat of KR in the Icelandic Cup finals, securing the club’s first major trophy.

The first goalkeeper off the board in the 2014 NWSL College Draft, Wys was selected by the Western New York Flash. She made nine starts in 10 appearances in her rookie season before joining the Washington Spirit for the next four years, 2015-18. During the 2016 season, she led the Spirit to the finals of the NWSL Tournament as the starting keeper.

Prior to her time as a professional, Wys was a standout goalkeeper at Florida State University and a four-year starter from 2010-13. She led the Seminoles to two ACC titles and a national runner-up finish in 2013. Individually, she earned All-American honors in 2012 and she was named to the Mac Hermann Trophy Watch List in 2013. She finished her FSU playing career, holding 17 total goalkeeper records in school history. She was the career record holder for minutes played by goalkeeper (8,518), wins (74), shutouts (45) and starts (96); all-time leader in wins (29), shutouts (20.0), saves (132) and consecutive shutout minutes (621:10) in ACC games only; all-time leader in wins (16), shutouts (9.0) and saves (63) in NCAA Tournament games.

A Coral Springs, Fla. native, Wys earned a bachelor’s degree in family and child sciences from Florida State in 2013.
