Jacksonville State Head Soccer Coach Sean Fraser has finalized his first staff with a familiar face in former Gamecock Kimberly McPhearson making the transition from player to graduate assistant with the program.

McPhearson was a member of the Jax State program in 2021 and 2022 after coming to the Jacksonville from Green Bay prior to the 2021 season. The Baltimore, Maryland native saw action in 19 games over the two-year span and was a spark for Jax State off the bench in 2022. McPhearson connected on 10 shots, including five looks on-goal. She was inserted into the starting lineup twice last season against Georgia State and ASUN foe Bellarmine.

While a student-athlete at Jax State, McPhearson was heavily involved in the initiative ‘Morgan’s Message’. Morgan’s Message strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community and equalize the treatment of physical and mental health in athletics.

McPhearson started her intercollegiate career at Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York and played in 40 games on the junior college level in 2018 and 2019. She accumulated 15 assists in two seasons at MCC. McPhearson registered six goals and five assists as a sophomore for 17 points during 2019. On the club level, she spent time with the Maryland United FC ECNL program under the direction of Dave Stockum.
