Liis Abbott was promoted to associate head coach on Dec. 6, 2023.

Abbott began her eighth season on staff for the women's soccer team in 2023 and played a key role in guiding the Black Bears to their first America East Championship.  

Prior to joining the coaching staff, Abbott played three seasons for the Black Bears. She played a total of 36 games in her career for Maine, accumulating two goals in the 2012 season. 

Abbott served as a captain her senior season at Maine in 2014 and she was also named a Maine Scholar-Athlete Award winner and a member of the America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in 2013. 

Abbott earned her bachelors of science degree in kinesiology and exercise science in 2015 from the University of Maine.

Prior to UMaine, Abbott played for the Estonian Senior National Team, where she made 27 full national team appearances. She also started and played 90 minutes in eight consecutive World Cup qualifying matches from Oct. 2009 through Aug. 2010. Abbott was named Estonian Female U-21 Footballer of the Year in 2010. Apart from that, she also scored 32 goals in two seasons for club team FC Flora.
