Marc Zharnest has been coaching the Yeshiva University women's soccer program since July of 2017. After serving as head coach of the team from 2017 until 2021, Zharnest stepped down and was named assistant coach of the YU women's soccer program in July of 2021 so he can focus on his role as director of admissions and undergraduate high school recruitment at Yeshiva University. 

Under his tenure, the Yeshiva University women's soccer program earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award during the 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2021-22 academic years.

No stranger to the Maccabees, Zharnest played for the Yeshiva University men’s soccer team in 2006 and 2007.

In 2022, his first season as assistant coach, Daniella Bessler set a program single-match record with 36 saves in the season opener at New Jersey City University. Bessler went on to earn a spot on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team. 

Since 2013, Zharnest has served as the head coach of the Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls varsity team. He led his squad to four straight divisional titles from 2014-2017. Yeshiva High School for Girls won the league championship in 2016 and 2017.

Zharnest also serves as the head coach of the Frisch Yeshiva High School junior varsity team, as well as the head coach of the Yeshivat Noam Middle School soccer team.

Active in the world of soccer, Zharnest is also the assistant coach of the Frisch Yeshiva High School varsity team, helping the unit capture the MYHSAL League Championship in 2014.

Zharnest served as the head coach of the Kushner Hebrew High School boys varsity and junior varsity teams from 2011-2013, leading the varsity team to an appearance in the league championship game in just his first season. He was the head coach of the TABC Yeshiva High School junior varsity team from 2008-2010. He coached the TABC boys team to the MYHSAL Junior Varsity League Championship in 2010.

Currently residing in Fair Lawn, N.J., Zharnest earned his Bachelor of Science in management from Yeshiva University Sy Syms School of Business in 2010. He served as the director of outreach and recruitment for the JSS Program at Yeshiva University from 2010-2014. He earned his master's degree in healthcare administration from Seton Hall University in 2013.
