With more than a decade of coaching experience, Markus Rybak is in his ninth year as an assistant coach with the Lycoming women's soccer program in 2023.

Rybak completed a term as an interim head coach with the Warriors in 2016, posting a 4-7-2 record as the team's lead charge, including a 3-2 overtime win for the program's first against Lebanon Valley since 2008. After the season, he flipped roles with Kenny Fern, who was announced as the head coach, returning to an assistant role with the team.

Since then, he has helped the Warriors build back into a regionally-ranked team, as the 2019 team posted a 10-8-2 record, posting the third-most improved record in the NCAA Division III. The team posted 11 wins in 2021, just one shy of the program record for wins, as the team posted back-to-back 10-win seasons (not including COVID-19-cancelled 2020 campaign) for the first time in program history. The 2022 season saw the team earn the first postseason bid in program history, as it tied the program record with 12 wins and finished the season with regional rankings from both the NCAA and the United Soccer Coaches.

In his first year with the Warriors, Rybak served as an assistant, helping the team post a 9-9 record. In his  five years with the team, Rybak has helped the Warriors post 31 wins while helping to mentor four all-conference selections.

He served as the head coach of crosstown rival Penn College for four seasons, where he led the team to a 28-27-6 record and two berths in the USCAA Championships. He coached five USCAA All-Americans during his time with the Wildcats and led the team to an 11-7-2 record in his last year with the program in 2013. After leaving Penn College, he spent a year as an assistant with the South Williamsport High School girls' program.

Rybak also coaches with the STN NorthPenn club team, where he has worked for the past decade.

A native of Lünen, Germany, Rybak attended Milligan University in Elizabethton, Tenn., where he was a member of the men’s soccer team for four years. While at Milligan, he was invited to compete in the Premier Development League twice. He graduated in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems and he also also holds a post-baccalaureate certificate in information systems security from Pennsylvania State University.

Rybak started his coaching career in 2004 as an assistant for the David Crockett High School varsity boys’ soccer team and he also served as an assistant at Penn College in 2009.

Rybak is an operations project specialist and support administrator at Muncy Bank & Trust in Williamsport. He resides in South Williamsport with his wife Jaime, daughter, Emma, and sons, Lukas and Gavin.
